Peregrine falcons have been nesting at the Great Spirit Bluff nest box site since 2005. The nest box was installed by the Raptor Resource Project after falcons attempted to nest on a ledge which was accessible by raccoons, making it a risky endeavour for the raptors. The site is on protected land in Minnesota, and is managed by the Minnesota Land Trust. It is estimated that 30 young have hatched in this nest.

The current breeding pair, Michelle (P/87) and Travis (06/N), successfully fledged a male named Macintosh in the 2014 breeding season and have visited the site again this year. It is hoped the first egg will be laid by the first week of April 2015.
