As many of you will remember, we had to take a break from broadcasting from the Mara in the first half of last year. At that time we promised we would be back and did indeed return. Unfortunately, we have reached another point where we need to stop broadcasting from the Mara. As was the case last time, we are fully committed to, again, making this a temporary situation; to return to broadcasting from this magnificent piece of nature as soon as we can. However, at this point in time we do not yet know when that would be.
The past years of broadcasting from the Maasai Mara have been nothing short of awe inspiring, epic and totally amazing. WE have loved every moment and thank you for all the positive support and feedback from all corners of the world, it is clear you have enjoyed it as much as WE have.
The Sunset safari on Wednesday May 8th, 2019 will – for now – be our last LIVE broadcast from the Mara. We remain 100% committed to the Mara and to returning. Therefore, The camp WE built will remain in place and ready to be reopened when that time comes. We are in positive discussions with the Narok County Government to, once again, help make this possible.
Of course our daily safariLIVE broadcasts will continue from the Sabi Sands in South Africa as normal.

As others have said so eloquently, I will greatly miss viewing the Mara with David and the other guides as part of my twice daily does of SafariLive. This is such a priceless asset to those of us who love Africa, its animals and great beauty. I really am astounded that this is made available to us every day. I can’t even imagine how much I have learned since starting to watch SafariLive – and I have a Ph.D. in Zoology.
To David – you are a delight to listen to – your great enthusiasm, appreciation and knowledge of the land and its animals is a treasure to us viewers. I truly hope that you will be back with us again in the not so distant future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I cannot thank you enough for the love and effort put forth in the Mara. I pray that continued efforts and negotiations will once again bring us back to the Pride Lands. This is extremely sad as I’ve grown fond of David’s well of knowledge of the reserve, his sense of humour, his respect for his camera operators. I wish him well & hope all will be sorted, so we can have him back soon! Thank you wildearth ❤❤❤❤
David is is such a golden light for us all and with him comes the brilliant light of Kenya’s Mara Triangle. David has the attitude, the demeanor, and the love for the natural world that is special and very rare. I am so sad that we are losing them both. Please, please bring them back safely to us, as soon as possible.
I am going to miss David and Manu as well. I love the baby boom with the sausage tree pride and the wonderful hyena’s. I was looking forward to the migration. Hope we see you again in the Mara Triangle!! So sad.
I am grateful as a newcomer to have found this channel and all the great guides…i will miss it and wish everyone well and hope to come back to it sometime in the future! I hope to go on a safari ione day and this channel makes my desire to grow! I hope those in decision making positions recognize the effect this channle has and will find ways to bring it back!

While the close up and personal touch of the shows on Djuma remain my favorite I am sorry to learn of losing the Mara and look forward to it’s return. I’ve watched Safari Live for five yrs. and will continue to do so. I would also like to compliment all those involved in putting together your wonderful crew that make each and every show so interesting and exciting. I want express thanks to all those behind the scenes who make it all seem so effortless . We, the long time viewers, are very aware of many of the challenges they overcome so well with each and every show . They are the unsung heroes and I want to send each of them a huge thank you. Please include this expression of respect & thanks to the technical and mechanical staff as well as those who provide the daily comforts so important to all the staff. As the saying goes “It takes a village to raise a child” so it also takes the “whole village” to successfully put each show on. Thanks and much love and respect to each and everyone of you. Also, this viewer wants to thank David for his wonderful insights, knowledge and attitude. He seems to take such pride (pun intended) in knowing where every lion is, and I sometimes think he knows every bird as well. I will miss him, and it’s evident he will miss us. I hope he’s back soon.
Thank you so much for keeping us informed. We have had some truly spectacular sightings with David and the talented team of cameramen in the Mara and the beautiful vista with all it encompasses will be greatly missed. However Djuma is also an absolutely beautiful place in a different way and having the privilege of being up close and personal with habituated animals, especially the Leopards, is truly incredible. Thank you all very much for all you do in bringing these fantastic broadcasts to us on a regular basis.

I too hope it’s only a temporary absence from the Mara. I feel so privileged to be able to view the beautiful Mara vistas and animals thanks to the efforts of everyone at SL. I have learned so much about this beautiful world and have seen such fantastic sights. I hope we will soon be spending time with David and all the excellent cameramen again. Take care all. Hmmm,this is really sad news,albeit hopefully temporary…the MAIN reason I watch SL is because it gives me a window back to my favorite place on earth,Maasi Mara,where it always feels like home. Gotta admit won’t be watching SL often now as a result but I do wish the team the very best in squaring whatever issues are in place(hopefully the GoK isn’t giving y’all a hard time though it’s what I highly suspect😒) and you’re back on air. Wow, David. I am already missing David, the magnificent sunrises, the Sausages, the migration and the wide open vista that is the Maasai Mara. I sincerely hope this will not be a final goodbye and so I am waiting with great anticipation of the return. Now if you go James it would just be a total catastrophe. Thanks for thinking of the WildEarth fans and we will remain faithful as we wait. I wake up daily looking for the sunset drives (North America) and will not go to bed without first seeing the sunrise drives. Thanks for all you do, we love you and all the Naturalists.

This is incredibly sad news. I loved the Mara with all my heart. Whenever there were technical glitches prevented the Mara to be part of drive, I was always disappointed. Such beautiful vistas. The most recent sunrise safari showed how beautiful the Mara is (thanks GG and Archie). That scene with 5 different species feeding and jumping around with glee. I love the Sausage Tree Pride and will miss the development of their 10 cubs. 😢😢😢
This is very sad news. I can’t help thinking about the staff: guides, cam-ops, engineers, mechanics , and all the other people making the SafariLive coming through to us from the Mara. Are they out of work now? It makes me very sad. What is going to happen to them? Very uncertain work conditions. Maybe I’m so sad because I don’t understand the reasons why the Mara is closing down. I know we probably will be back in the future, but it still hurts thinking about those people.
Stopping the broadcast from Mara breaks my heart. It has been an awesome privilege to watch the beautiful sunrise,sunsets and above all the wonderful creatures that roam in that beautiful land and to top it all, the knowledgeable safari guides who make this show immensely popular. I do hope to watching it again and soon….

So sad but what a privilege to have seen some truly spectacular sightings in the Mara. I have absolutely loved watching the sausages and will be very sad to miss their growing up . Wow. What a surprise. I’m one of the many “Safarians” who will miss the Mara broadcasts extremely much. I have become familiar with the “Mara characters,” and have an emotional attachment to them, and to the land that is the Maasai Mara. I will miss the Kenyan part of “my” often twice daily live safaris.
This is what I comes to mind when I think about the Mara that WE has allowed into my life.
While the huge variety of highly interesting animal species are intriguing, they, alone, do not comprise the whole “Mara experience.” They and their unique surroundings are an inseparable combination; they ARE the Maasai Mara. Together, they create magic.
The magic is no trick – it’s real life, as live as it gets. I will fondly picture the seemingly never-ending expanse of stunning scenery, the grass taller than a person; the famous trees; the beautiful forest, fed by the river that helps nourishes it; the amazing, steep escarpment, the “secret” dens, rocks, and termite mounds that add to the, “You never know what will happen.” factor which evokes my ongoing excitement about what’s to come and keeps me riveted to my tablet. Then, there is the great Nile River – an ecosystem I never tire of observing and learning about. The humongous crocs and hippos are so amazing, they often seem unreal! I could go on.
WE, I am grateful to you for bringing over six hours of assured happiness into my life. The wonderful world of people in accompanying live chat stream are like me in so many ways. We are able to become cyber friends, always sharing our passion for Africa’s animals, including the “small things,” etc.. We love to learn and are always happy to meet new viewers and help them settle in on the back of the safari vehicles. David and Manu, and any other Naturalists and Cameramen feel almost like friends. David is one with the Mara area and Manu teams up with him to locate animals, from two different heights. I will miss them, too.
Anyway, (I hate writing – can you tell? lol), I know you are working hard to bring us back to Kenya. Thank you for everything.

I’ll be looking forward to WE’s return to the Mara. I’ve become very fond of the characters there and the WE crew. I’ll especially miss David’s gentle, friendly personality in the Sausage Tree Republic. Here’s hoping he’ll be able to return to Djuma for a cycle or two and get reacquainted with the leopards.
Of course, this is very, very sad news – but I feel it the greatest privilege that I began watching SafariLIVE just as you reconnected with the Mara last year. Sunrises with David and Manu have made my own days start particularly well – and then the joy of being in regular contact with the bounty of everything else that extraordinary landscape has offered.us. I feel I have it in some way built into me now. I remember, too, though, that the first few drives I watched, taking place exclusively in Djuma, had a special intimacy. about them.- and I look forward to more of that. Although not what any of us would have anticipated, thank you for this update and clarification. WE has control over only a certain amount in this political arena, but it is a little difficult to not take it personally. Thank you so much for all you do, I will never stop supporting you or enjoying all that you share with us. The guides, or naturalists are going to be the toughest ones to let go of.
