As many of you will have seen from this morning’s sunrise safari, WE have partnered with EcoTraining who are pioneers and leaders in safari guide and wildlife training here in Africa. EcoTraining is widely recognised by the safari industry for its credibility and standard of excellence in nature guide training. All courses are run directly from EcoTraining’s unfenced bush camps in prime wilderness areas across South Africa, Botswana, Kenya and Zimbabwe.
To begin with, WE have partnered with EcoTraining at Karongwe Game Reserve. Karongwe Camp is on the banks of the Karongwe River (mostly a dry river bed) in the 9 000ha (22 239-acre) Karongwe Game Reserve, which is to the south-west of the Kruger National Park.
In addition to this wonderful news, we are super excited to have Tayla McCurdy back and gracing our screens again. Many of you will recognise her as the bubbly guide who guided for WildEarth both in South Africa and the Maasai Mara. For those who don’t, Tayla was born in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and when she left high school she was determined to live and work in the bush. Holding guiding qualifications in both South Africa and Zambia, she has guided and managed 5-star lodges across the globe along with training guides in Sri Lanka and now is an instructor for EcoTraining.
Cruel lockdown, so terrible in it’s effect on all communities, many of whom we cannot know, has through WildEarthLive, given us a lifeline to the ‘Boosh,’ Thanks James. More than wonderful live camera work, we are shown how to understand tracking and even better, animal behaviour. Having been on safari in Kenya and Southern Africa, we can appreciate how much more we can see with patience and superbly operated film cameras.
I happily made my donation and hope that you can continue with this unique work.
So sorry to hear about Karongwe. I hope that the trophy choked the ‘hunter’
I have been watching for about a year and have learned so much about South Africa not just the animals but the plant life and and the people. I hope WE keep growing with this new viewers and new places. Thank y’all and my God bless.
I am SO impressed with your YouTube live game drives. A friend put us into you at the start of lockdown and it has been such an escape.
All your guides are brilliant and passionate and so knowledgeable but not stiff and formal. Really a brilliant show. James has me in stitches. He’s such a nerd but in a really goofy way. Keep it up old chap.
We watch morning and evening and have told all our friends and family worldwide about you.
I am scrolling about trying to find how to donate.
Huge fan in Cape Town
Super exited to see Karongwe on WildEarth.
We have over the last 10 years visited the reserve at least once per year.
Are you working on the sound quality from Tayla?
Best regards
I have spent the last four weeks enthralled during your game drives and thank you all for keeping my family sane during this lockdown.
I have one query though.
This morning Tayla spoke about the Wild Dogs being kept in a boma until release. While I understand that Karongwe is a large reserve I also believe it is fully fenced. How does that work for Wild Dogs ? It’s concerns me that this nomadic breed will be fenced in. I would like to understand how having the big five and now wild dogs in a contained area will work for the wildlife. Thanks and regards
Jude
You have all given me such joy and I am so glad to be able to still keep up with all my favorite people you are all so great
