Barney Khoza has always had safari in his heart and soul. Having been brought up next to the world-famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in the rural Shangaan community of Huntington, Barney’s curiosity for wildlife and nature bourgeoned from a young age. He has worked in the South African bushveld for many years, building his career from a plumber all the way up to the head guide at &BEYOND Ngala. Despite meeting obstacles along the way Barney enrolled at &BEYOND’s Inkwazi Ranger Training School at &BEYOND Phinda Private Game Reserve where he was very successful due to his determination to succeed and friendly personality.
When asked, Barney will tell you that his favourite animal is the wild dog. What he likes most about them is that they take care of both their young and their elderly, which he believes to be key pillars of human society. He will also tell you that he loves the challenge that wild dog present when they’re on the move. Barney revels in trying to keep up with a fast-moving pack and finds a great wild dog sighting to be especially rewarding. You will often find Barney out in the bushveld on foot, as he loves being able to explore nature and connect to it freely, without the noise and the bulk of the vehicle.
We are so lucky to have a man with such in-depth knowledge and deep-rooted passion for the South African bushveld to learn from, and we are so looking forward to sharing in Barney’s love for the African safari.
Wild Earth has made pandemic isolation bearable. Thank you

Welcome .. I love listening to your enthusiastic commentary .. altho you had me on the edge of my seat when you casually exited your vehicle looking for a lion pride … you were happily chatting away .. I was freaking out thinking a big lion might jump up at you .. I only started breathing again when you got bank in the truck … keep up the awesome drives
